A dog calendar is the calendar that gets looked at. Whoever walks into the kitchen stops, finds the dog, and smiles - and the year has started well. This page collects our free printable dog calendars for 2027: full-year sheets first, a monthly set below, and more dog printables added as they are ready. Eighteen breeds so far, from a Papillon to a Saint Bernard, each in its own world.

Every sheet is a one-page 2027 wall calendar sized for US Letter and A4, with all twelve months laid out around the dog. Download the PDF, print it at home on plain or heavy paper, and it is ready for the fridge, a frame or a corkboard. If your breed is not here yet, it is on the way - the Golden Retriever already has a page of its own.

How to Print Your Dog Printables

Every sheet on this page is free for personal use. Click Download PDF for a print-ready file sized for US Letter (A4 works too - choose "Fit to page" in the print dialog), or Print to send the sheet straight to your printer. Plain paper is fine for a desk or a fridge; a heavier 28 lb / 110 gsm sheet stays flat on a wall and takes color better.

The monthly calendars come in matching sets of twelve, so you can print the whole year at once with Full 2027 Year PDF, punch two holes along the top and hang the stack on binder rings - or take it to a copy center for spiral binding. New Dog printables are added to this same page, so bookmark it and check back.

About the Dog

Where dogs came from

Dogs were the first animal humans ever domesticated, and they did it long before farming, pottery or writing. Genetic studies place the split between wolves and dogs somewhere between 15,000 and 30,000 years ago, when small groups of wolves began following hunting camps for scraps and slowly grew tame enough to stay. By the time people settled into villages, the dog was already part of the household. A 14,000-year-old grave in Germany holds a man, a woman and a young dog buried together, and the dog had been nursed through an illness before it died - the oldest known evidence of humans caring for a sick animal.

From that single origin came the most varied species on earth. Herders shaped collies and shepherds, hunters shaped hounds and retrievers, guards shaped mastiffs and Dobermans, and Chinese and European courts shaped lapdogs like the Papillon, the Pekingese and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Today the American Kennel Club recognizes around 200 breeds, and hundreds more exist worldwide, from the ancient Basenji of Central Africa to the Shiba Inu of the Japanese mountains.

Character

What all those breeds share is the thing that made the partnership work in the first place: a dog watches you. Studies have shown that dogs read human faces, follow a pointing finger without training, and lock eyes with their people in a way that raises oxytocin in both of them - the same hormone that bonds parents and infants. A dog is not just tolerant of humans; it is built to live alongside them.

Temperament still varies enormously by breed. Border Collies and Australian Shepherds need a job and will invent one if you do not provide it. Huskies and Samoyeds were bred to run for hours in the cold and are famously vocal about their opinions. Chow Chows and Basenjis are reserved, cat-like and choosy about who they trust. Cavaliers, Papillons and Italian Greyhounds want to be on your lap or in your sleeve. Saint Bernards and Rhodesian Ridgebacks are calm giants who take up a great deal of sofa. Knowing what a breed was made for explains most of what it does in your living room.

Living with a dog

A dog needs, in rough order of importance, company, exercise, good food and a routine. Most dogs do best with at least an hour of activity a day, and working breeds need more. Feeding twice a day at the same times, walking at the same times and sleeping in the same spot gives a dog the predictability it craves - dogs are, above all, creatures of habit, which is exactly why they make such good calendar companions.

Grooming ranges from a weekly brush for a Dalmatian or a Doberman to daily work for an Afghan Hound or a Samoyed in shedding season. Poodles and Border Collies are among the easiest to train and among the most demanding to keep entertained. Whatever the breed, most dogs live between ten and fifteen years, with smaller dogs generally living longer than giants.

A few things worth knowing

A dog's sense of smell is somewhere between ten thousand and a hundred thousand times more sensitive than ours; a trained dog can detect certain cancers, low blood sugar and an approaching seizure. Dogs have three eyelids. A dog's nose print is as unique as a human fingerprint. The Basenji does not bark, it yodels. Dalmatian puppies are born pure white and grow their spots over the first weeks. The Border Collie is generally ranked the most intelligent breed, and a famous one named Chaser learned the names of more than a thousand toys. Corgis were royal favorites for seventy years, and the Cavalier is named after King Charles II, who reportedly refused to go anywhere without his spaniels. The tail wag has a direction: dogs wag more to the right when they are happy and more to the left when they are anxious.

Why a dog calendar

A dog calendar is a small daily promise that the year will have good days in it. The sheets on this page are made to be printed at home, framed, pinned above a desk or clipped to the fridge, and each one puts a different breed in a different world - paper, ice, velvet, stone, a garden maze. If your favorite breed is missing, tell us at [email protected]. We are adding dog pages breed by breed, and this page grows through the year as new dog printables - planner pages, bookmarks, wall art, gift tags - are added below.
